Winter Weekend Away in the Blue Mountains

Winter Weekend Away in the Blue Mountains

July 04, 2018

For all those looking for some ideas for a winter escape look no further!

Having been to the Blue Mountains many times in summer and winter I do think this time of the year albeit it’s cold, is a great time of year to visit. Personally, I would try to avoid the Blue Mountains on public holidays as it tends to get packed and it’s nice to have the place and paths a bit more to yourself.

Key walks to check out:

  • Grand Canyon Walk
  • The National Pass
  • Hanging Rock

Best food places:

  • Blue Mist Cafe, Wentworth - super cute cafe/bookstore with the most amazing, delicious food. Enjoy a relaxing hearty meal and they have a library of second-hand books and a fireplace.

Interesting places to stay:

  • The Bush Hut, Wentworth Falls - I've stayed here twice and it really is an exceptional little cabin in a great location, friendly hosts. Not an Air Bnb and it's just really lovely and you can chill in the evenings but plenty to do all around you.

Local shops:

  • Leura & Wentworth falls have a number of very cute shops for men and women and I would highly recommend checking out all the local businesses and picking up a few trinkets along the way, whether it be books, jewelry, leather goods, antiques or plants.
